A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013, in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, with Reverend Sam Earp officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Betty was born September 11, 1924 in Regensburg, Germany. She married Rolando Pena. Betty moved with her husband to the United States in 1962 and relocated with her family to Abilene in 1965, where she worked as a teacher’s aide. Betty enjoyed family gatherings, gardening, and especially the holidays.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rolando Pena; her sister, Mitzy Huneycutt; and her brother, Werner Piehler.
Survivors include her sister, Tzilley Suess of Regansburg; her brother, Hanzie of Regansburg; her children, Fred and Judy Pena, of Abilene and Rollie and Darlene Pena of Abilene, Irene and Mac Fitzgerald of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
