Betty Lou was born on January 25, 1950 in Jasper, Alabama to Henry Melvin and Margaret Marie (Smith) Butler. A very genuine person, she always was very plain spoken and you never had to wonder where she stood on things. True and honest, but she was a compassionate and caring person.
Betty Lou was a fun-loving person. She loved to listen to country music and dancing, and in her younger years enjoyed bowling. She liked to bake and cook for others when she felt up to it, which was part of her giving nature.
Above all else, Betty Lou loved her family, and her kids and grandkids and great-grandkids brought her much pride and joy. After her family, her greatest love was going to the casinos and playing the slots.
Betty Lou was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Lois Frood, Charlotte Keaton, Nell White, Margaret Lay and Dale Butler.
Survivors include one son, Carl Butler; two daughters, Rosie Swayne and Janie “Casey” Boggs; three sisters, Pauline Bailey, Jackie Reid and Brenda Jones; six grandchildren, Ryan, Damion, Alyssa, Joby, Brittany and Nicole; numerous great-grandchildren; longtime companion, “Doc” Dokter; and a host of extended family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, TX 75219.
