Bobbie Ruth Edwards

Bobbie Ruth Allen Edwards, age 97, of Abilene, Texas, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. For the past 8 years she had been residing in San Antonio at Discovery Village assisted living and memory care.

She was born September 8, 1928 to Bob and Ruby Thompson Allen at her grandmother’s house in Jones County, Texas. She lived most of her life in Midland, Texas, where she resided with her husband Leon Edwards, who she married December 10, 1946. She was employed by First National Bank in Midland for 20 years. Following the death of her husband Leon, she moved to Abilene, Texas. There she was an active member of Hamby Baptist Church and later Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. She also served as a volunteer for the Abilene Baptist Association for 20 years and for her service with them she received the Lay Person of the Year award in 2009.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Edwards, her parents, Bob and Ruby Allen, her brother Carroll Allen, and sisters Dorothy Wheeler and Pauline Burrow. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are being made by Hamil Family Funeral Home. Services will be graveside at Hamby Cemetery, Hamby, Texas Friday, April 10, 2026 1:00 PM
