James Calvin Walker, 90, of Abilene, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 in Abilene. He was born on December 2, 1934 in Abilene, TX to the late Ivy Bell (Campbell) Walker and James Elmer (Bud) Walker. On June 17, 1955 he married Helen Rusk and they had three children, Raylene, Rode and Rickey. Helen preceded him in death in 2018.
In 1973, Calvin opened his HVAC supply business known as Walker Supply and later started his service business under the name of Calvin Walker Heating & Air Conditioning. He retired in 2018 from the AC business.
Calvin served his country in the National Guard from 1953 – 1965 and was a longtime member of Wylie Baptist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Raylene Cox and husband Calvin of Abilene; two sons, Rode Walker and wife Christy of Fredericksburg and Rickey Walker and wife Traci of Abilene; grandchildren, Brady May and wife Jess of Boerne, Tammy Fanning and husband Matt of Alvord, C.J. Carroll and husband Craig of Frisco, Rowdy Walker and wife Maggie of Luckenbach, Bunde Walker of Kerrville, Kimberly Horne and husband Adam of Andrews, Summer Burton and husband Dillon of Clyde, Ryder Walker and wife Stephanie of Meridian, Stoney Walker and wife Sharon of Abilene and Jake Beeman of Abilene; 21 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 US Hwy 277 South in Abilene. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel with John Fannin officiating. Burial will follow at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories.
