Cecil B. Hail, 94, of Abilene, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, departed this earthly life to join his Heavenly Father on February 7, 2013 in Allen, Texas. Graveside services will be 1:00p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2013 in the Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery, 5701 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX with Gerald A. Gieger officiating under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. Viewing will be Friday, February 15, 2013 from 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. and a visitation being held on Saturday from 11:00a.m. to 12:30p.m., at the funeral home, prior to the service.
Cecil was born in Hico, Texas to Dudley and Allie Hail on August 10, 1918. He was self-educated and was raised on a farm along with his 8 brothers and sisters. He married Nadine Davis on October 22, 1938 in Plainview, Texas.
Cecil enlisted in the U.S. Naval Service on May 2, 1944 and served during World War II on the USS Mecklenburg stationed in Morro Bay, California. While enlisted in the US Navy he participated in the occupation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan and received an Honorable Discharge on February 2, 1946.
Cecil and his wife moved to Midland, Texas where he was a carpenter and homebuilder. He was a member and active in the Four Square Church in Midland. He and his wife also lived a number of years in Fort Worth before moving to Abilene.
Preceding him in death was his beloved wife of 70 years, Nadine Hail.
Survivors include his three sons, Neal Hail, Don Hail and David Hail; fourteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
