

Services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 US Highway 277 S. Abilene, Texas 79606 he will be laid to rest next to his mother in Caps Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening also at the funeral home from 6-8:00 PM.
Charles was born on August 14, 1983, in Abilene to the late Sherill Gene Zara and Patricia Ann (Gibson) Zara. He grew up in Clyde where he attended Clyde High School. Growing up he enjoyed going fishing with his family, they made many memories through the years at the lake. He grew up surrounded by a large and extended family. Charles worked in several industries through the years, The Railroad, Oil Field and most recently with his brother-in-law at M&M Cabinets. Charles’ life’s journey took him down many roads, but his proudest accomplishment was his four kids. He will be remembered by all those who knew him as a proud mama’s boy. Charles was kind and loyal to those he loved and would often give his last to others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparent, Charles Zara and Dola Zara Miller; his aunts and uncles, Shirley Jean Case, Calvin Leonard Gibson, Donald Glenn Gibson, Billy Dean Gibson, Robert Don Gibson, Judy Ellen Gibson; cousins, Tommy Price, Ronnie Gibson and, Billie Jean Gibson.
He is survived by his four children, Christian Tyler Zara, Morgan Ann Zara, Chloe Michelle Zara and Kale Levi Zara; his grandson, Chase Thomas Zara; sisters, Stephanie Mason and her husband, Matthew, Christy Oden and her husband Blaine, Sharla Morris and her husband Brian; brother, Todd Zara and his wife, Rhonda; aunts, Debby Robertson Steele, Helen Burke and Wilma Kay Ervin; uncles, Larry Dale Gibson, David Wayne Gibson and Ronald Lynn Gibson; many nieces, nephews and cousin. Charles is also survived by many friends.
