

Daisy Smith, 79, of Abilene went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 24, 2011. Services will be held at 10:00a.m., Monday, March 28, 2011 at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 5 to 7p.m. at the funeral home.
Born in Rule on January 9, 1932. Daisy was the daughter of Jerry and Vadie Harrell. She graduated from Rochester High School and then attended beautician's school. She married Charles W. Smith on March 24, 1950. Over the years, Daisy worked at Lankfords, Abilene State School and Abilene ISD food service before her retirement in 1998. Daisy was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church for 41 years and was active in Prime Timers. She loved visiting with family and friends, rocking her grandbabies, and she loved to cook, sew and crochet.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Charles of 45 years; two sisters, Dorthy Harrell and Joan Meil; and a brother, Gene Harrell.
Survivors include two sisters, Jeralene Thompson of Las Vegas, NV and Dona Lusk of Morenci, AZ; a brother, Mike Harrell of Haskell, TX; three sons, Charley Ray Smith of Gainesville, TX, Jerry Don Smith (Sharon) of Abilene, and Greg Smith(Carolyn) also of Abilene; two daughters, Susan Kendall (Mike) of Richland Hills, TX and Linda Beckham (Howard) of Clayton, NC; ten grandchildren, Chad Hasty, Chris Smith, Summer Smith, Jacob Profrock, Tara Collier, Larissa Arias, Jared Beckham, Autumn Smith, Abby Smith, and Jamie Kendall; and four great-grandchildren.
