

Funeral Services celebrating his life and legacy of service will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Transformation Church 3150 Vogel St, Abilene, TX 79603. Interment with military honors will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, from 2-4pm, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 Hwy. 277 S. in Abilene.
He was born in Abilene, Texas on April 1, 1952, to Lonnie and Lora Belle Wallace. He attended Abilene High School where he participated in the band as a clarinet player. He joined and spent 10 years in the US Navy from 1970 to 1980. He moved his family back to Abilene and transferred to the US Army and spent 12 years there from 1980 to 1992. He married his childhood friend, Carolyn Sue Parris, on April 6, 1977, in Abilene, Texas. Together they raised their family of three children. He and his family attended Bible Chapel where he was a song leader for many years. He was an avid fisherman and loved camping with family and spending time on his boat with his kids and grandkids.
He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and the Texas Rifle Association. He worked for Taylor County as a Sheriff’s deputy as a sergeant from 1992 until his retirement in 2009. He drove a school bus for Abilene ISD for 4 years after his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Helen Bradford and brother-in-law Ross Bradford, his brother, Bobby Ray Wallace, mother-in-law Louise Parris and father-in-law Joe Parris and brother-in-law Gary Schoolcraft.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, son Jeremy Wallace (Sheila) of Hemphill, Texas, son David Raughton (Tamara) of Abilene, Texas, daughter Derri Craft (Nick) of Abilene, Texas, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Ruth Wallace of Sweetwater, brother-in-law Rickey Parris (Pug) of Abilene, Texas, sister-in-law Janice Schoolcraft of San Antonio, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1651 Pine Street, Abilene, Texas 79601, or donors’ favorite charity.
