Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home with her son-in-law, Larry Brazell officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Deborah was born on July 21, 1949 in Haskell, Texas to the late William Branscum and Beulah Gertrude (Ray) Morris. She grew up in a large family in Stamford, Texas. She married the love of her life, James B. Morgan, on August 30, 1963. Together they settled, started a family and made roots in Abilene. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved nurturing her family. After her children were adults, she assisted her husband in his business as an Oil Field Mechanic, often working alongside him on field calls. She later enjoyed serving the children in the cafeteria at Jane Long Elementary School. She loved to read, watch her soap operas, and especially loved to care for her cats. She shared a special bond with her beloved cat, “Miss Kitty”. Above all, her family was her life and focus each day.
She was preceded in death by, her husband, James Morgan; father, William Branscum Morris; mother, Beulah Gertrude McKnight; brothers, Calvin, Chester, and Gilbert Morris; sisters, Shirley Moore, Bobbie Durham, O’Nita Hope, and Joanne Baldree.
She is survived by her children, Tina Brazell and her husband Larry of Abilene, Chris Morgan of Abilene, Eric Morgan of Abilene, and Kimberly Morgan-Simonek and her husband Dennis of Lewisville, Texas; 1 granddaughter, Micheala Brazell; 2 great-grandchildren, Zackary and Tryssa; and her oldest sister, Camila Holtz of Green Valley, AZ; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to any animal rescue organization, a cause that was dear to her heart.
