Derrell Wayne Dobbs

Derrell Dobbs, 83, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016 in Abilene. Graveside services will be 1:00p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2016 in Hamby Cemetery, Hamby, Texas under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St., Abilene. Visitation will be from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m., Friday, March 25, 2016 at the funeral home.

Derrell was born in Nugent, Texas on September 8, 1932 to the late Donald Kirby Dobbs and Ruby Mae Woodall Dobbs. He attended Abilene public schools and served our country proudly in the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Army.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Mary Wynell Dobbs; his second wife, Melba Joyce Dobbs, a son, Jerry Wayne Dobbs; two daughters, Kathy Perry and Patricia Jacobson; and two brothers, Earl Dobbs and J.C. Dobbs. Survivors include tow sons, Jimmy Dobbs and wife, Pam and Tommy Dobbs and wife, Jackie; a daughter, Misti Rister and husband, Guy; a sister, Mary Frances Heffernan; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
