Dimas Martinez, age 72, passed away on January 11, 2020 in Tye. Graveside services will be held at 11 Am on Saturday, January 18, 2020 in the Elliott Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery with Deacon Victor Ramirez officiating. Burial is under the direction of Elliott Hamil Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Elliott Hamil Funeral Home located at 5701 US Hwy. 277 South.
Dimas was born on October 27, 1947 in LaPryor, Texas to Luis “Chuy” and Rosa (Najera) Martinez. He had two sisters, Eva and Gloria, and growing up he played baseball and football. He loved music and played the accordion and the guitar in his spare time, a hobby that started in childhood and continued into his adult years. He attended Elgin High School in Elgin, Illinois, and was a truck driver in his adult years. Dimas was an outgoing person who planned things logically and took the common sense approach to life. He married Frances Gonzales on December 21, 2018 in LaPryor, Texas. He also had a pet, a black poodle named “Tuto”, that he had for 8 years and loved dearly.
Dimas was preceded in death by his parents; his son Steven Martinez and his sister Gloria.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Martinez; his two daughters Teresa and Rhonda Martinez and his sister Eva Rendon
