Dolly Margaret Peterson
September 20, 1938 – November 1, 2019
Dolly Margaret Peterson, age 81, passed from this life on Friday, November 1, 2019.
Memorial services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Elliott Hamil Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Dickson, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Hawley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Elliott Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 US Hwy. 277 South.
Dolly was born on September 20, 1938 in Maryville, TN to William Earl Thatcher and Bessie (Panell) Thatcher. A very honest and trustworthy woman, Dolly was blunt, but not rude, and would tell you her thoughts on the subject at hand. She was a Christian woman, whose very big faith was inspired and encouraged by Rev. Dentzer. She was deeply involved in her church, and raised her children with Christian values and morals.
Dolly had a great sense of humor, and was funny and loved to laugh. She was independent, her “own woman”, and loved country music and dancing. Dolly also loved to cook, from scratch, and her gravy and biscuits were the best around. She was very social, had great fashion sense, and loved to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas with all of her family and friends. She also enjoyed collecting China.
Dolly was very protective of her family, the most precious thing to her. She disciplined with love, but was a Mama Bear when she needed to be. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren brought her great joy and pride over the years.
Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, son Dwight Richard Watson, brother Buddy Thatcher, sisters Deane Cable and Marie Coffey, and great-grandson Mason Marant.
Survivors include two sons, Hugh Watson, Jr. and wife Gail, and Charles Watson and wife Vickie; one daughter, Ardella Pace and husband Jay; four sisters, Barbara, Faye, Joyce and Darlene; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
