A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 from 5-7:00 PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 Highway 277 S. in Abilene.
Don was born on February 26, 1947 in Abilene to the late Roland and Frances (Rabon) Dunn. He was raised in Abilene where he started playing golf and clay shooting at a young age and continued the rest of his life. He graduated from Cooper High School in 1965. He went on to attend Tarleton State University. Don was a hard worker, ambitious and always keeping busy. After graduating with his bachelor’s he began his career teaching Agriculture in Bellevue, Texas. He later returned to Abilene and worked with his father in the freight business until going into business for himself opening Big Country Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. He then went back into education teaching at French Robertson for the Windham School System. He finally retired as the manager of the Abilene Clay Sports. He married his former classmate Patty Dressen on June 7, 1996. They enjoyed many years of travel and creating fun memories. Don will be remembered for always lending a helping hand to others, his love of family, and his easygoing personality. He was a member of the NRA and Amateur Trap Shooters Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patty Dunn; his sons Richard, Dustin, and Randy Dunn; grandchildren, Ashley Lancaster and her husband, Brian, Chris Dunn and his wife, Eva, and Hunter Dunn; 3 great-grandchildren, Case, Cohen, and Emma; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and special friends.
