

Donald passed away surrounded by the love of his family. While our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the years, memories, and lessons he leaves behind.
Donald spent his entire working life in the oilfield. He was proud of his work and earned the respect of those around him, serving as a driller, tool pusher, and nearly every position in between throughout his career. To his friends and fellow oilfield hands, he was simply known as "DW" or "Don." Most who knew him considered him a man of his word, someone who believed in hard work, keeping his promises, and doing the job right.
Donald was married twice during his lifetime and was blessed with a large family. He was the father of five children and two stepchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Viola and Estel Martin; his wife, Pam Martin; his brother, David Martin; his daughter, Tracy Martin; and his grandson, Roger Rogers.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Rogers and husband, Jessie, of Wingate, Texas; his son, Wayne Martin and husband, Brian, of Arlington, Texas; his daughter, Robin Martin of Tye, Texas; his son, David Martin and partner, Alex, of Merkel, Texas; his stepdaughter, Jonnie Baker and husband, Tom, of Trent, Texas; and his stepdaughter, Terry Martin of Tye, Texas. He also leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory.
He is also survived by his brother, Delton Martin of Abilene, Texas; his sister, Sue Goodgoin of Merkel, Texas; his sister, Barbara McVey of Tuscola, Texas; his sister, Patsy Martin of Merkel, Texas; his brother, Dan Martin and wife, JoAnna, of Abilene, Texas; his sister, Dale Nowell and husband, Dean, of Gardiner, Maine; his sister, Mary Martin of Tye, Texas; his sister, Estelle Martin of Tye, Texas; his sister, Pearl Penney and husband, Troy, of Abilene, Texas; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends.
Donald will be remembered for his dedication to the oilfield, his strong work ethic, and the respect he earned from those who knew him. His legacy lives on through the family he loved and the countless lives he touched throughout the years.
The family appreciates the love, prayers, and support shown during this difficult time.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Highway 277 South, Abilene, Texas 79606.
A graveside service will be held on July 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Tye Cemetery, 726 Air Base Road, Tye, Texas 79563.
