Doris Faye (Dori) Boney, 79, passed away gently and gracefully from this earth in her beloved home on August 8, 2012. She was born on June 23, 1933 to Willie Curn and Corsie Priscilla Johnston, of Haskell, TX. She had four older brothers; Willie M. (J.R.), Carl, Gordon, and Roy Glenn, who grew up in Haskell and were members of the Church of Christ. Dori married Daniel W. McMillin and together they had three children. Glenda Gordon, Teresa Diann, and Daniel Willard, Jr.
In 1991, Dori married Buster H. Boney of Abilene. They enjoyed traveling, a happy social life, and a beautiful home. Dori was a successful business woman and homemaker. Throughout her life, she became an expert in creating beauty in and outside her home, tirelessly caring for her whimsical flower garden and the expansive courtyard grounds she treasured so much. Most every bird in Abilene is fatter and cleaner as a result of her abundantly filled feeders and fresh water bird baths. The Christmas light industry also owes her a huge debt of gratitude.
Dori's charm, spirit, and one of a kind sense of humor bonded with all she met, producing and sustaining lifelong friendships and "best friend" feelings with people from all walks of life. She was a most beautiful and unique woman and a matriarch to her large and loving family who referred to her as "Mama Doll".
She is preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; three brothers; a cherished sister-in-law, Shirley; and her precious son, Danny.
Survivors include her brother, Gordon W. Johnston of Fairbanks, Alaska; two devoted daughters, Glenda G. Bell of Wimberley, TX, and Diann Anderson and husband, Jackie of Amarillo; her granddaughter, Staci Marsh and husband, Cory of Beaumont and their daughter, Priscilla Diann Bell of Houston and their sons, Nance David and Tanner Raye; granddaughter, Amberlee Cantrell and husband, Brian currently residing in Ireland and their son, Wiley Price and daughter, Lennon Marie; granddaughter, Carly Shea Bell of Austin and her sons, Devin Lee and Jesse Gordon; granddaughter, Melani McMillin Galindo and husband, Germy of Amarillo and their daughter Jayci Bree and son, Alec Daniel; and her only grandson, Sean Daniel Anderson and wife, Rachel of Amarillo; along with a loving uncle, Al Putman of California; and many cousins, nephews and nieces that she held so close to her heart. She is also survived by her most loyal and adorable side kick, her dog, Clementine.
Dori has generously donated her body to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center with arrangements being handled by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date. She will be in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a loving donation in her name be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory St., Abilene, TX 79601 or to the charity of your choice.
