Doris Carrington Newman

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at Macedonia Baptist Church with Pastor Matthew M. Lubin, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Doris was born January 7, 1946 to Doris (Williams) and Glen Carrington in Leon County, Texas. She worked for Texas Instruments until they closed; Wal-Mart; and was a bus driver for CityLink. Doris enjoyed traveling. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Doris was always thinking of others before herself.

She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers.

Survivors include her mother, Doris Carrington of Abilene; son, Jeremy Newman of Abilene; two brothers, Sam Carrington (Dorine) of Cedar Hill, Texas and Joe Carrington (Sharon) of California; and a host of nieces and nephews.
