Doris June Schmidt

Doris June Schuchard Schmidt passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 in Abilene, TX. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, Abilene. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a visitation Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Doris was born on June 15, 1927, to Mr. Johnny T. and Arlie Opal Williams. She and her husband, Roger Schmidt have enjoyed their time together with some of her favorite pastimes being bowling, ceramics, and trying her luck at the slot machines on occasion. Although she knew how to live life to its fullest she will be better known as a most beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She is predeceased by her parents. Those left to treasure her memory are her husband, Roger Schmidt; sons, Terry Hawkins and his wife Barbara, and Jerry Hawkins; stepsons, Ronny Schuchard and his wife Keith, Paul Schmidt and Lisa Watson; stepdaughters, Karen Smith and her husband Bob, Janna Dean and her husband Jason; half-sisters, Kathy Williams, Becky Doolin and her husband Norris; half-brother, Johnny Williams and his wife Cindy; eight grandchildren; three great-grandhchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.
