Graveside services will be 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories.
Doris was born on December 8, 1935, in Raymondville, TX to the late Bernard Kurt Mutz and Hazel Edith Widmann Mutz. She married Ronald Dean Wellborn in Lubbock. They were married for 54 years until his passing on March 28, 2015. She was also preceded in death by a son, Kurt Morman on June 14, 2024.
Doris grew up on a farm down in the valley. She worked in their orange and banana orchards. They raised all sorts of animals. She had a huge love for all living things, loved life and no one was a stranger. She did work multiple odd jobs to help support her family. Primarily she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed the simple things in life. Doris loved reading and coloring, but her favorite thing was having family get togethers, playing with her dogs and watching FOX News.
She is survived by one remaining sister, Ella Mae Nolley of Pasadena, TX; her five children, Joy and husband Richard, Tina and husband Mel, Ronny and wife Carolyn, Fritz and wife Kami and Frank; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of the health care providers that tended to her needs during her hospitalization at Hendrick and her stay at Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society or to Hospice Care.
A gentle soul, a loving heart,
A mother’s care, a wife’s sweet start.
She brought joy, warmth, and light,
A beacon in the darkest night.
Her love was pure, her spirit bright,
A guiding star that shown with might.
She nurtured dreams and soothed each pain,
A constant presence, that remained.
Though she is gone her memory stays,
A bittersweet reminder of happy days.
Her legacy lives on, a love so true,
In the hearts of those who love her too.
May treasured memories bring you peace,
And the love she shared forever releases.
May her spirit guide you through the night,
And her love remains a shining light.
