Dwain Arthur Currie passed Sunday, July 30, 2017 in Abilene, Texas. A Graveside service will be held 10:00am. Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Texas State Veteran Cemetery, 7457W. Lake Road. Viewing will be from 9:00am. to 5:00pm. at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. The family will receive guest at their home from 5:00pm. to 7:00pm. He was born September 17, 1932 to John and Etoy Currie in Cisco, Texas. In June of 1959 he met and married Betty Francis Carter in Odessa, Texas. Dwain worked at Casey's restaurants for a total of 30 years, 11 of those years was at Old Abilene Town as the restaurant's manager. He then worked for Overland Tank for 25 years before retiring. He was a loving husband and father. His greatest joy was seeing his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dwain also enjoyed watching Dallas Cowboys football with his sons. He was Baptized at the 16th and Vine Church of Christ in Abilene in 1962. He found great comfort, direction and inspiration in the scriptures. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Laura Sue Wink and a nephew Charles Wink. Dwain is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Currie, two sons, Steve Currie of Abilene, Mike and Erica Currie of Abilene, and two daughters, Patsy and Roy Rains of Abilene, Valerie of Abilene. Dwain is also survived by nine grandchildren; Brandon, Brenna and Charles Naccio of Little Elm, TX, Brad, Harrison, Hannah, Michael, Josephine, Sarah, and Murphy; and six great grandchildren: Brilyn, Maylee, Skyla, Layla, Gage and Maddox, and several nieces and nephews.

My sister and I grew up next door to the Curries'. Dwain and Betty were like dad and mom #2. Dwain was one of the hardest working men I ever met. Our hearts and prayers go out to the entire family. We were blessed to have known such a kind and loving man.
