Ella Estell Crumpton

Ella Estelle Crumpton passed at the age of 96 on June 30, 2026. Ella was born in Polar, Texas, to Sarah Francis Long and Edgar Nathan Hall. Ella completed the 11th grade and went on to work as a photographer for Olan Mills.

She is survived by her sons, Charles Otis Crumpton and Victor Eugene Crumpton; 12 grandchildren; and more than 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Eugene Crumpton; her daughters, Judy Elaine Weems and Ella Ruth Foughty; her sisters, Rosa, Ada, Effie, and Florence; her brothers, Raymond and Lawrence; and her parents.

Ella Estelle's life lives on through the memories of her sons, grandchildren, cousins, and the many people who lovingly cared for her both at home and in the nursing home. Since her passing, Charles's fondest memory has been the music she filled her home with. Some of those same records were passed down to him years ago, and she still has more that will be cherished by future generations. Some of her favorite songs and artists, included "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," Hank Williams Sr., Tommy Dorsey, Lawrence Welk, and Elvis Presley.

Ella's home was filled with photographs of both her ancestors and the generations of family who followed. After moving into the nursing home, one of the things she missed most was the collection of family photos that had lined the walls of her home.

Those who cared for Ella were charmed by her sense of humor and enjoyed her company. As we remember her today, we also cherish the memories of the aviary in her backyard and the birds that she and Eldon cared for together.

A Memorial Service will be held at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, TX 79606, US, on July 14, 2026, at 10:00 am.
