

Ellis Edna Wristen, 87, quietly passed away Wednesday May 15, 2013, at Hendrick Hospice Inpatient Unit in Abilene. Graveside services will be 2:00p.m., Sunday, May 19, 2013 in Eastlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1921 Early Blvd., Early, TX under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South.
Edna, daughter of the late Zeb and Jennie Russell, was born August 17, 1925 in Gilford, NC. At age 14, Edna and sister Kathrine sang Southern Baptist Gospel music live on a popular Greensboro radio station.
Edna served our nation during WWII as a US Navy supply clerk stationed in Seattle, WA. In late 1945, Edna married Charles Wristen and a 68 year courtship ensued. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a homemaker. Edna loved to sew and was very talented in ceramics, even owning her own ceramic shop called Edna Ceramics.
Survivors include her husband, Charlie; two sons, Bill and Russ of Abilene; a sister, Kathrine of Detroit, MI; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Our heartfelt and prayerful thanks go out to the doctors who treated and the nurses who tended to our loved one over the past two years. RIP mom.
