I have a photo of his grandfather, Major Allen Buell, that i would like to share with any descendants.  I found it in my grandparents photos.  My grandfather served under him in the Spanish American War.

I was told that Eric taught my sister Judy and I how to cartwheel when he came to visit his Uncle Ronnie, my father, in Morecambe.  I did not meet him again but express my sympathies to Shirley and to Janet.

Eric will be sadly missed by all his friends around the world. He was a man of rare stature with a gentle personality and loved by all who knew him, we will miss his company and the pleasure he freely gave to others.

Say this three times: "Two twin-screwed steel cruisers". That was one of Eric's favorite tongue twisters. I knew him from a chat room. There, he was like a great mentor to me and most others. He always had a peaceful and compassionate demeanor. He was a real peacemaker there, and I am sure that is what he was everywhere else. He is truly missed. ~Crimsonwriter

I only knew Eric, or 'ERSH' for a relatively short time in Yahoo chat, but i found him to be wise, sympathetic, amusing and very learned.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, me included.

ersh was a great man   he gave so much pleasure to us on the internet and his knowledge helped so many of us. we miss him so much.he was always  a gentleman    and he s irreplaceable. god bless him  and also comfort his family

I just heard of Eric's passing and my heart goes out to family and friends. Eric impacted everyone he met. His quick wit, keen insight, and tender heart (though sometimes masked by his quick tongue!) made a huge impact on me and my family. Shirley, though I never had the pleasure of meeting you, having known Eric (and Dorothy), I know you must be a wonderful lady. I pray for comfort and peace for you and the family as you grieve this great loss. Jan, Meg, my thoughts are with you both. I loved, appreciated and respected your dad/husband. I will miss him~

It moved me to hear that Eric, or Ersh as I knew him, had passed away. 
Years ago, when I asked Ersh what made him pick his nickname, he said "it's the first 2 letters of my name and of my wife's name". I thought that reflected a loving heart and it made me smile.
He had a sharp wit and a nice sense of humour. He was never demeaning to people. He will be much missed. 
I wish everyone grieving for Eric all the best.

Eric was a good , wise man. I spoke with him almost daily for a number of years on Yahoo. He was a good friend and his wisdom will be missed greatly

My name is George Dressler.  I knew Eric for many years through a Yahoo chat room.  His chat name was Ersh and I only found out in latter years his real name was Eric.  Eric gave an air of civility to the chat room that will never be replaced.
