Esperanza M. Gunderson

Esperanza Gunderson (Nana), long-time resident of Abilene, TX., died Tuesday evening, March 12, 2019 at home with family.
Born in 1941 in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, Esperanza lived and worked in El Centro, California where she met and married her husband, Elmer Gunderson. Esperanza and Elmer moved to Abilene to be with their son and granddaughter.
Esperanza was a homemaker, she kept her home and family strong. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. She loved baking, fishing, picking pecans, garage saling, anything with family and friends, and a nice cold beer. Her smile could brighten up anyone’s day, she knew no strangers and after a couple beers and music playing she turned into a dancing queen.
Esperanza was preceded in death by her dear husband, Elmer Gunderson and is survived by her son, Alfredo Gunderson, granddaughters Karissa Gunderson and Laura Gunderson and 3 step-daughters Jill Gunderson, Janet Gunderson and Judy Gunderson, along with several brothers and sisters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 15, 2019 with family and friends to celebrate their sweet Nana.
