Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Rise Church 517 N Pioneer Dr. in Abilene. Interment will follow in Abilene Municipal Cemetery. Visitation and Prayer Service will be held on Monday evening from 7-9:00 PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 Hwy. 277 S. in Abilene.
Eva was born on May 31, 1947 in San Angelo to the late Macario Gomez and Salome Lopez Perez. She lived in several cities but spent most of her life in Ballinger and Abilene. She worked for Heritage Oaks and Dankworth Packing in Ballinger. Eva loved to cook and was especially known for her homemade tamales. She also enjoyed taking care of her many beautiful plants. She cherished the simple things of life such as having fun with family, hanging out, shopping with her sister-in-law, La Gorda and dancing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Daniel Portillo; her grandson, Jonathan Portillo; her great-granddaughter, Anali Amor Lomas; brother, Raul, LoLo, and Macario Gomez, and Lorenzo Martinez.
She is survived by her children, Joe Portillo and his wife, Debbie, David Portillo and his wife, Valerie, Rachel Balderas and her husband, Chencho, Ricky Portillo and his wife, Kathy, and Mike Portillo and his wife Sissy; brothers, Felipe, Gilbert and Alfred Gomez, and Martin Gonzales; sisters, Diane Gomez, Minnie Cortez, and Estella Gomez; 13 beloved grandchildren; and 21 cherished great-grandchildren; she was also a proud Tia to many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Hendrick Inpatient Hospice for the care shown to Eva.
