Visitation will be on 17 Sep 2023 from 2-4pm and a celebration of his life on 18 Sep 2023 at 2pm at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 US Hwy 277, followed by burial at Elwood Memorial Park, Abilene, TX.
Mr. Kinder was born on 21 Aug 1936 to Florin and Mary Katherine Grimm Kinder in Vestaburg, Pa. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1954, after which he joined the U.S. Air Force on active duty. On 20 Sep 1977, Mr. Kinder concluded a 23-year career of military service. In 1979, Mr. Kinder entered government civil service and retired for a second time on 3 May 2000 for a total of 44 years of service to his country.
Mr. Kinder married Marlene Kreitner on 15 Feb 1958. They shared 42 wonderful years together and had four sons. He took exceptional care of Marlene while she battled cancer and deeply mourned her passing in 2001. Mr. Kinder was fortunate to find love and companionship for a second time and on 19 Mar 2004 married Doris Gill Condra. They shared 19 years together and he once again mourned deeply as Doris succumbed to dementia in 2023. He faithfully attended Southern Hills Church of Christ.
Mr. Kinder is survived by his four sons, Ron (Tammie), David (Thanh), Gary (Timothy Webber), and Kevin (Peggie). He is also survived by his two sisters, Rhoda Applebee and Darlene (Ron) Howes; stepdaughter Brenda (David) Casey; stepson Mark (Becky) Condra, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and his brother-in-law Gerald Kreitner. In addition to his parents and two wives, Mr. Kinder was predeceased by his sister Donna Palmer; two brothers, Donald and Ernest Kinder and stepson Larry Condra.
