Frances T. Hodges, 98, died October 24, 2024, at her home in Abilene. There will be a viewing October 30 in the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home at 1:30 PM followed by a memorial service in its chapel at 2:30 PM.
The daughter of Margaret Kathleen and James Mikel Thompson was born in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, June 11, 1926. She moved to Statesboro, Georgia when she was five years old, and later graduated from Statesboro High School. Frances worked as a bank secretary until she married Marion Brannon Hodges, Jr. in 1950. She was a faithful and loving wife and mother of two beautiful daughters, Kaye Hodges Close (died in 2006) and Susan Hodges Malson. The family moved to Abilene in 1960 when Marion was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base. Frances and the girls joined and became faithful members of First Baptist Church.
God and family were very important to Frances, growing up and living in a three-generation home most of her life. She was a good seamstress who made clothes for everyone in the family including herself and both grandsons. She was a very proud grandmother.
In lieu of flowers, we ask for memorials to FBC Abilene (mission or mission programs) or Samaritan’s Purse for hurricane relief.
