Frances Jane Woodroof died peacefully at Windcrest Alzheimer's Treatment Center Wednesday morning, November 17, 2010. She was born February 14, 1925 in Nashville, Tennessee to Robert and Laura Harris. At the age of 18, Jane married a handsome 19-year-old soldier, Dan Harding Woodroof. They were married 66 years. Jane was a gifted seamstress and a terrific cook. She had a keen eye for interior design, and a sense of humor that endeared her to her caregivers.
No family visitation is planned. There will be a private family graveside service Monday afternoon in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery on Highway 277 South.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Robert Woodroof; her parents; three sisters (Virginia Harris, Betty Claire Harris, and Martha Harris Gower); three brothers-in-law; her parents-in-law, Bessie and Claude Woodroof; and many dear friends.
She is survived by one sister, Maurine Harris Caldwell; one son, Dan Harding Woodroof II; three daughters, Sandra Milholland (Mrs. Tom), Laura Olson (Mrs. David), and Susan Rickard (Mrs. Steve); one daughter-in-law, Sherry Scanza (Mrs. Rocco); grandchildren, Kay (Milholland) Orr, Matt Milholland, Chad White, Karyn (White) Martin, Christopher Fassett, Eden (Fassett) St. Pierre, Steven Rickard, and Christian Olson; and great-grandchildren, Cole, Cameron, and Caden Orr, Noah and Posey Milholland, Reagan Martin, Ransom Fassett, and Lillian Kall. She also leaves behind sisters- and brothers-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and faithful old friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to your charity of choice, but your prayers and concerns have already been a rich blessing and testament to our mother. Thank you to all who loved and cared for her.
