

Frank graduated from San Marcos High School in 1959. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) in San Marcos, Texas in 1963. Frank was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the USAF through an ROTC program.
Frank married Viola (Bootsy) Katt on December 21, 1962 in Cibolo, Texas. They raised two wonderful children-Kenneth Patrick Norwood and Cynthia Lyn (Norwood) Hubler.
The Norwood family lived in several places during Frank’s 24 ½ year career in the USAF including Waco, Texas (James Connally AFB), Topeka, Kansas (Forbes AFB), Republic of the Philippines (Clark AB), Sacramento, California (Mather AFB) and Abilene, Texas (Dyess AFB). Frank was a navigator on C-130’s most of his career. He was awarded many medals including Meritorious Service Medals, AF Commendation Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medals, Air Medals and others.
After retiring from the USAF in 1988, Frank worked as an instructor in the C-130 Flight Simulator at Dyess AFB until 2002.
Frank’s favorite activities included bowling, singing in the choir at St. James UMC, reading, playing computer games and watching his grandchildren's activities.
He enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels. He delivered meals and worked the desk several days of the week. He and his wife were awarded the 2008 RSVP “Agency” Volunteers of the Year.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents-Patrick H. and MaryBell Norwood.
He is survived by his wife of 51+ years, Bootsy Norwood; son, Kenneth Norwood of Plano, Texas; daughter, Cynthia Hubler and husband Dr. Parley Hubler, Jr of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; and 5 grandchildren, Jennifer (Hubler) Teed and husband Brian of Norman, Oklahoma, Sharon Hubler and Christina Almand of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Kevin Hubler and Nathan Hubler of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; a sister, Claire (Norwood) French of San Marcos, Texas; and brother, David Norwood and wife Betsy from Lakeway/Austin, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Frank was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and he will be greatly missed.
Viewing was held on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Elliott Hamil Funeral Home from 6:oo-8:00 p.m..
Memorial Services are scheduled for Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church. Pastor Jeanie Williams and Dr. Rob Sledge will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. with full military honors.
