Gary Scott Blevins, 57, passed from this life February 24, 2015 in Abilene, TX. A memorial service will be held at 3:30p.m., on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest in Abilene, Texas.
Gary was born on July 2, 1957 in Waynoka, Oklahoma to Roy H. and Betty Jo Blevins. He lived in Ponca City, Oklahoma the first three years of his life then moved to Amarillo during his school years. He graduated from Tascosa High School and attended West Texas State University on a music scholarship.
Gary moved to Abilene in 1984. He loved music and singing in the church choir. Gary was an accomplished pianist, organist, and cellist and thoroughly enjoyed playing the tuba in the Tascosa High and the WTSU marching bands. He worked at SWBT-ATT for 30 years, and after retirement he helped to repair and restore fine old pipe organs from as far west as the state of Washington to Florida on the east coast. This gave him the chance to travel all over the United States; he loved this opportunity and photographed as much as possible. Gary loved his Lord, his family and his church.
Preceding him in death was his father, Roy H. Blevins. Gary is survived by his mother, Betty Jo Blevins; brothers, Bruce W. Blevins and wife, Nancy, and Mark A. Blevins; and an aunt, Rita Fowlkes all of Amarillo; another aunt, Winona Daniels of Paso Robles, CA; an uncle, Howard Blevins and wife, Moya of La Habra, CA; and many cousins and dear friends. We all shall miss him.
We would like to thank the good people of Hendrick Hospital, Pathways at Hendrick, and Hendrick Hospice Care for the care they gave our loved one.
