Geneva was born on October 5, 1942 in Jacksonville, Texas to Eddie and Lurlene (Hampton) Wallace. In high school, she was a Homecoming Queen at Oscar DuPree High School, where she loved and excelled at Math and played basketball. She lived in Hamlin, Texas for a while and then moved to Dallas for three years. After sharing several years together getting to know one another and courting, she married the love of her life, Hersie A. Strahan, on July 24, 1981 in Las Vegas, and they shared almost 32 years together in marriage, love, laughter and life until his passing on January 3, 2013. During that time, they moved to Abilene and that became her home. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family.
A hard worker, Geneva worked at several places as a Dietician, putting love into her food for her residents and patients. She retired in 1989 from the kitchen at ACU. A good cook, her family learned that with every bite and story shared around the table there was love and care put into it. She was also an avid fan of Dallas Cowboys football, and of the LA Lakers and Golden State Warriors basketball. She loved to travel, and had fond memories of her vacations in Mexico City and Hawaii.
A Christian woman, she was a former member of the Holliday Hills Church and had been a member of the Mount Mariah Baptist Church for thirteen years. She was a strong woman who became suddenly ill and went on home to be with more loved ones who passed on before her.
