Gisela considered herself a Texavarian, Texan by marriage, Bavarian by birth, the first of her kind. Surviving her are: husband of nearly 57 years, Charles Smith; their son Charles, Jr., his wife Burni, their children, Stephen, Jessica and husband Amos, and Sonia; daughter Kathy Diamond, her husband David, their children Benjamin and Tasha; daughter Joann Smith, her children Shad and his wife Sarah, Paul Thomas and his wife Liliana; and son Greg and his children Shannon, Gregory, and Serenity. Also surviving her are her brothers, Franz, his wife Lotte, their children Karin, her husband Uli, Rainer and his wife Dora; and brother Fritz and his wife Dorli and their children Frank his wife Beate, Monica and her husband Rudiger and their son Marlon.
Gisela retired as Purchasing Manager for FMC Corporation in California, and more recently as a travel agent for Travel Leaders in Abilene. Her final days were spent doing what she loved most: caring for her husband, traveling and reading good books. She will be missed by all.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2015 from 6pm to 8pm at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. Funeral Services will be 2pm Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home with burial following in the Buffalo Gap Cemetery.
