Glennis was born at home on the family farm near Aline, Oklahoma. At age 17 he joined the U.S. Navy. After high school graduation he trained at Great Lakes Naval Station near Chicago, and subsequently served in San Diego, California, and the Caribbean. He worked as a radio operator and was honorably discharged on July 6, 1946, at the end of World War II.
After his military service, Glennis attended the University of Oklahoma, and graduated with an Associates Degree from Oklahoma State University. He married Joan Martin on November 21, 1951, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They resided there until 1954 when they moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, to partner in TexAirmen at Kickapoo Municipal Airport. In 1971 the family moved to Abilene, Texas, and Glennis joined the fledgeling Abilene Aero company, leading the avionics department until retirement. The following years were spent on hobbies and community service including continuing to serve Assemblies of God churches as a deacon, trustee, teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent; volunteering in the university setting, lecturing and assisting fine arts students on jewelry making at McMurry University and elsewhere.
Glennis continued as a faithful member of The Church at the Cross in Abilene until his death. His church family and his River Oaks neighbors have been a consistent network of prayer and fellowship across the years. He will be greatly missed, leaving behind a legacy of devoted service to the Lord Jesus Christ in daily, godly living. We take comfort and courage in knowing that we will be reunited with him at the resurrection.
