Grady Lynn Becksworth

Grady Lynn Becksworth, 82, of Abilene, TX passed away on August 24, 2025 surrounded by loved ones and holding the hand of his wife Brenda of 60 years. They wed on May 8th, 1965 and created an amazing family and life together.

Grady was born on March 31, 1943 in Comanche, TX to Lena LaVerne Drennan Shaver. He spent his early years in Bronte, TX. He later spent years living, working, and attending The Church in Odessa, Fort Worth, and Abilene, with Abilene becoming his true home and spending most of his time there.

Grady dedicated decades of his career to Cummins Electrical Supply and Bunkley Electric where he became a familiar and trusted face in the electrician trade. He faithfully served the 5th & Grape Church of Christ by serving in many roles such as Deacon, Treasurer, Song Leader, caring for the building’s upkeep, managing its needs, and ensuring that whatever needed to be done was taken care of with devotion and humility. He cherished time spent watching his grandsons and great grandsons play sports. They made many great memories traveling with their friends Murphy Rhoads, Carolyn Rhoads, Sue Wilhite, and Russell Wilhite.

Grady is survived by his wife, Brenda Becksworth of Abilene, daughter Deborah Prescott and husband, Randy of Diboll, grandson Joshua Prescott and wife Jenna of Gunter, grandson Kyle Prescott and wife Taylor of Aledo, great grandchildren Gage Prescott and Gunner Prescott of Gunter, and Harper Prescott and Hayes Prescott of Aledo. He was preceded in death by his mother Lena LaVerne Drennan Shaver, and sister Nancy Sarten.

Please join us on Saturday, August 30th for visitation at 9:00 AM and services at 10:00 AM at 5th and Grape Church of Christ in Abilene. A private burial will follow.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Carrus Health Specialty Hospital in Sherman.
