She married the love of her life, Celestino Barron, on July 22, 1967 in Sanderson, Texas and they shared 52 years in love, laughter and life. She was a stay-at-home mom who loved to cook, especially tortillas, cookies, and loved to eat BBQ and ribs. She was a devout Catholic, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Above all else, she loved her family (especially her grandchildren) with everything she had, and hearing her grandchildren sing or watching them perform and participate in anything brought her great pride and joy over the years. She also loved her 3-legged Chihuahua, Tito, and her Siamese cat, Precious. The family would like to express their appreciation and extend a heartfelt thank you to Fresenious Kidney Care South location in Abilene, Dr. Allen Schultz and Hendrick Medical Center for the loving care given to Gregoria and her family during her illnesses. Gregoria was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Epimenio Castro Sr. and Carlos Castro, sister Mary Fuentes, and son Paul Edward Barron. Survivors include her husband, Celestino Barron; two daughters, Tina Benavidez and husband Charlie, and Teresa Escobedo and husband Jacob; four brothers, Bernabe Castro and wife Norma, Epifanio Castro and wife Elsa, Gabriel Castro and wife Becky, and Sergio Castro; nine sisters, Thelma Gutierrez and husband John, Bertha Smith and husband Jerry, Juanita Lester and husband Mack, Millie Escobedo and husband Fernando, Grace Lopez, Santa Lander and husband Shandal, Paula Montalvo and husband Richard, Dora Benavidez and husband Eddie, and Cecilia Calzada and husband Tony; five grandchildren, Ilyana, Matthew and Deago Benavidez, and Trinity and Jude Escobedo; and a host of extended family and friends.
