Harlon Perrin

Services will be held Saturday, November 26, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St., with Brother Randy Roy officiating, with burial following in Breckenridge Cemetery. Visitation is 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Harlon was born July 12, 1923 to mother Flora Richardson Perrin and father Luther Perrin in Eastland County. He was a graduate of Alameda High School in Ranger, Texas and served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943 to 1946. He married his high school sweetheart Ethelene McMurray on February 16, 1945. She passed away in January 2009.

They moved several times before settling in Abilene in 1959. Harlon worked from 1962 as an insurance adjuster and in 1979 became a catastrophic adjuster or better known as a storm trooper. He loved his work and in the next 20 years traveled many miles working claims across America including California, Montana, Colorado, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, Kansas, North and South Carolina to name a few. He made a lot of friends along the way and was able to stay in contact with many of them.

Harlon was a member of College View Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and just being out in the country. He was also good at baseball and basketball and played baseball while in the Army.

Harlon was a good man and a good family man. He married Wilma Johnson on July 31, 2010. He was a happy person and loved life. He enjoyed playing 88 and 42 and fellowshipping with other seniors at Christian Village of Abilene the latter part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother; and two sisters.

Survivors include his son, Scott and daughter, Judy Kay; grandson, Cory and wife Angela; great-grandson, Cole; three sisters, Wanda Sumner, Patsy Riddle and Glenda Blair.
