

Henry W. Harris, also lovingly called “Pop”, “Uncle Ricky”, and “H” by his family and friends, was born on August 28, 1938 at Wesley Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. Henry was called home on Monday, August 11, 2025 in Abilene, TX. There to meet him were his wife, Barbara Jean Fulwiler Harris, daughter, Hunter Harris, has father and mother, Dr. Henry W. Harris and Maxine Curreathers Harris and sister, Jane Van Cleef.
Left to carry on his traditions are his children, Hayley Jayne Green and husband, Kirt of Albany, TX; Henry William (Will) Harris of Abilene, TX, and Heather Harris Rickman and husband, Keith of Rockport, TX and nieces and nephews; Tandy Bowers, Talley Scott, Kelly Lansing, Kathleen Oliver, Sean Searl, Kelsey Van Cleef and Harris Van Cleef and their families. His legacy will continue through his 3 grandchildren, Tanner Jenkins, Tatum Calhoun and husband, Jarrid and Hayden Harris and 3 great grandchildren, Faryn Calhoun, Flint Calhoun and Harper Harris.
Henry grew up in Oklahoma City, OK, he was the 1st graduating class (1956) of Northwest Classen High School. He attended Oklahoma University in Norman from 1956-1960 where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He continued his studies at Oklahoma Central State College from 1960-1961 graduating with a degree in Sociology. During this time, he met the love of his life, Barbara Jean Fulwiler at a dear friend’s wedding and they married in 1961.
After 45 years, Henry retired as a home builder. He began building homes in Abilene, Texas then worked in the Commercial Building Industry in the 70’s-90’s in various areas of Texas including South Padre Island, Texas where he then retired. Years later, he enjoyed living on Lake LBJ to be closer to his family and eventually moving back to Abilene.
Known for his charismatic ways, quick-wit, fun loving personality and his love for Oklahoma Sooners. Henry was an avid collector of Winchester guns and cars, including his 1983 Jeep Scrambler that he fully restored.
His desire was to be cremated and a celebration of life in his honor will be held at a later date.
