Jack was born on July 13, 1938 in Abilene to the late James H. and Winifred (Myatt) Erwin. He was a descendent of a longtime Jones County pioneering family the Myatts. Growing up he spent a lot of time on the family farm where he developed a strong work ethic. He attended Abilene High School where he met the love of his life, Mary Frances Smith. Jack and Fran were married in June of 1956 living in Abilene initially and eventually settling on the family homestead in Jones County were they raised their two daughters. Jack worked for Lockheed Martin and its previous companies for 43 years. Jack was a loving Christian man, his faith was the center of his life. He was a deacon and very active member of North Park Baptist Church. He was always ready to lend a helping hand any way he could from sharing his engineering experience for projects, fixing things, serving others and even a special mission trip to Honduras. He was an active member of the Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery Association serving in several capacities over the years. He enjoyed creating special memories with his family, especially once his grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along. He also enjoyed camping, fishing with his wife, farming and raising cattle. Jack was masterful craftsman whose skills ranged from running a 220 volt electric line to planting rows of black-eyed peas in his garden. There was little that he couldn't do and willingly shared his vast knowledge with any who asked.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents; his grandson and namesake, Casey Jack Clifton; and his infant brother, James Hubert Erwin, Jr.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary "Fran" Erwin; his daughters, Cindy Clifton and her husband, Greg of Weatherford and Tammy Erwin of Wichita Falls; grandchildren, Clay Aaron Clifton, Tyler Blain Champion, Ryan Scott Champion, and Brylee Daron Erwin; great-grandchildren, Landry Rose Clifton, Colbie Ann Clifton, Mary Kate Elaine Champion and Casey Blaine Champion; numerous other relatives and special friends.
