

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in Texas State Veterans Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
James was born June 1, 1940 to Ervin Crunk and Martha Yabro Crunk in Denton County, Texas. He married Marcene in 1970. James loved to travel and tinker and work with his hands. Jim worked in the oil and gas industry as a Safety Supervisor. Jim spent several years in the employment of Intermountain Safety, traveling through the Rocky Mountains and worldwide. He eventually found his way to Elkhorn Construction in Evanston, Wyoming where he served as Safety Director for several years before retiring his service with Elkhorn in 2002. Normal for Jim he could not fully retire and continued to contract out his services to several oil service and construction company’s until a severe stroke ended his ability to continue working.
James was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Marcene Crunk.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Rushing and wife Faye Rushing of Milliken, Colorado, Jason Crunk and wife Michelle Crunk of Abilene, Texas and daughter, LaNita Bossier of Abilene, Texas; a brother, G.W. Crunk and wife Peggy of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Nathan Gray, Marcus Jimenez, Natalie Bossier, Marcie (Rushing) McKelvey and her husband Michael McKelvey, and great-grandchildren, Michael and Thomas McKelvey; Faye Rushing’s children Tonya Lyons, Nicole Lyons, Chris Lyons, Angela Lyons and her daughter Isabella Dumler.
