

James Doyle Guthrie, 84, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012, in Abilene, TX. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012, at Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 North 2nd Abilene, TX.
Doyle was born on October 28, 1928 in Childress, TX to James Vollie and Bessie Ion Guthrie. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Abilene and a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge Hobah #1394 of Abilene and a past Master of Desoto Lodge #1409 in Desoto, TX and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason in the Valley of Dallas.
He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army Air Forces from 1946 to 1949. He served 22 months on Guam, and was discharged from Walker AFB in Roswell, NM in 1949. He married Ruby Unitte Wall from Lefors, TX on November 25, 1949. Doyle was a graduate of Hardin Simmons University with a BS in business administration.
Survivors include his wife Ruby Guthrie; and their son, James Madison Guthrie and his wife Elba Marie Guthrie of Austin, TX, and their son, Christian and his wife, Linnea of Austin; granddaughter, Audrey Guthrie of Austin; sister, Muriel Callahan and husband, Robert of San Antonio, TX and their children Rhonda Martin and Ray Callahan of San Antonio; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved Yorkie, Winnie.
