

Janice "Jan" Schow, 75, passed away on Thursday, June 04, 2015. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Church of Christ, 650 E. Ambler, Abilene. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St., Abilene.Jan was born on November 17, 1939 to Truman and Minnie Weaver in Wichita, Kansas. She met Richard Schow at York Christian College in York, NE in 1958. They were married on August 27, 1960 and were married for 55 years. She was an active member of Hillcrest Church of Christ for over 50 years. After being a homemaker, then Taylor Elementary lunch lady, Jan spent 16 years at the Abilene Christian University registrar's office, where her passion was ensuring students would graduate. After completing her B.A. and dual Master's degrees from ACU, she spent the next 18 years ministering to the elderly as a nursing home administrator in both interim and continual positions, for more than 25 facilities throughout West Texas. She spent countless hours behind the scenes, supporting various ministries and charities. Nothing brought her more joy than knowing she had made a difference in the lives of those in need. Her faith, which she shared with all who knew her, was evident in the way she lived her life for others. Jan was predeceased by her parents, Truman Earl Weaver and Minnie Bullok Weaver. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard Schow, her sons; Myron Schow of Abilene and Roger Schow of Sapulpa, OK, her daughters; Pearl Roys of Abilene, Kristy Lucas and her husband, Mike of Bluffton, SC, and Norma Jeffcoat and her husband, Brandon of Abilene, a sister; Marla Norris and her husband, Larry, of Kansas City, MO, grandchildren; April HIll, Justin Hill, Tyler Lucas, James Lucas, Kyle Schow, J.D. Schow, Shelby Kennedy, and Hailee Kennedy.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain States Children's Home in Longmont, Colorado.
