

Jimmy "Jimbo" Moreno Sr., 59, was called home on Saturday, April 7, 2012 from a long battle with cirrhosis of the liver and natural causes. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00a.m., Friday, April 13, 2012 at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. A visitation will start at 6:00p.m., Thursday with a Rosary recited at 7:00p.m. at the funeral home. The family will be at 1641 Partridge St., Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 9:00p.m.
Jimmy was born on January 14, 1953 at Saint Ann Hospital in Abilene, TX to Nettie and Marcelino Moreno. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and was awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Medal. He also served time during part of the Korean Conflict. Jimmy was very proud to be a Vietnam Veteran.
Our Daddy was a very fun-loving character and family and friends enjoyed being around him because he made them laugh with his stories. His kids and his grandkids were the light of his life.
Jimmy loved listening to his "tapes", watching his DVD's, and hunting with his son, brothers, father, grandson, and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, Friday domino night, playing shuffleboard at the VFW, and especially socializing. Watching and playing baseball was another hobby he enjoyed and his favorite teams were the Astros and the Rangers. As for football, he was a die-hard Cowboys fan.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Nettie Moreno.
Survivors include his loving children, Christa Loyer and (Michael) of San Antonio, Jimmy "Buck" Moreno, Jr. and (Cindy) of Abilene, and Martha "Short" Moreno and (Jay) of San Antonio; grandchildren, Diego Moreno of Livingston, TX, Laikyn Loyer of San Antonio, and Anna Alyssia Moreno of Abilene; his father Marcelino Moreno; brothers, Marcelino Moreno, Jr. and (Linda), Isaac Moreno, and Jose Moreno and (Catherine); sister, Cathie Lanham and (John); former wife, Sandra Rodriguez Moreno; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, numerous other family and friends, and his beloved cat, Weda.
