Joe Jeremiah "Joemiah" Romero, 20, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018. Funeral services will be 1:00p.m., Friday, April 20, 2018 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX with burial following in the Abilene Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.
Joe was born on August 26, 1997 to Joe Romero and Toni Gonzales in Abilene, TX. He graduated from Premier High School in Abilene, TX and obtained two welding certifications from Cisco Junior College. Joe worked for Superior Systems Technology of Merkel. He was known as a compassionate man with the biggest heart in the world. Joe would do anything to make others happy and did not have a mean bone in his body. He liked everyone and all of his friends and family would attest to the fact that he was always smiling. Joe was more than the addiction; the addiction did not define him.
Preceding him in death were his grandpa, Monty Gonzales; his uncle, James Gonzales; his aunt, Olga Meza; and his great-grandmother, Juana Sanchez. Survivors include his father, Joe Romero; his mother, Toni Gonzales; affectionately known by his siblings as "Bubba" - his brothers, Matthew Gonzales and Joseph Romero; sisters, Jazzmine, Justyne, and Jalyssa Romero, Gabby Chavana, and Joplin Romero; a nephew, Jay-Z Romero; grandparents, Antonio and Elizabeth Gonzales, Ruby Gonzales, and Carmen and Adam Mendez; great-grandparents, Rose Chavez, Isabel Gonzales, and Geronima Meza; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joe's name to the Serenity House, 1546 N. 2nd St., Abilene, TX 79601.
