

John T. Key, 81, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016 in Abilene, TX. A memorial service will be held at 10:00a.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St. with Rev. Wes Terry and Rev. David Cason officiating. John was born in Boyd Chapel, Texas on July 16, 1935 to the late Lester Leroy and Lena Clift Key. He worked in the oilfield then at Anson Metal Products before retiring from Onyx Oilfield Company where he was a pumper. John loved doing puzzles and enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys play. He was a member of Broadview Baptist Church in Abilene. Preceding him in death were his parents; and a brother, Lester Leroy Key, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Sue Key of Abilene; a son, Luke Key and wife, Ashley of McKinney, TX; three daughters, Pamela Mitchell, Becky Ivey and husband, Kenny, and Kimberly Pelton and husband, Randy all of Abilene; a sister, Evelyn Vaughn also of Abilene; nine grandchildren, Misty Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, Lindsay Schwartz (Aaron), Ethan Ivey (Francine), Randall Pelton (Peggy), Bryce Goff, Devin Robinson, Olivia and Eden Key; and ten great-grandchildren, Tyler, Caleb, Aiden, Harper, Anson, Everleigh, Randi, Cutter, Brookelyn, and Charli.
