Joy Wyvonne Wilson Teaff, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker, and woman of faith, was born in Abilene, Texas on September 13, 1929, to Archie Wilson and Amy Lee Grigg Wilson. She left this world to go home to her Savior on August 14th, 2026.
Joy grew up in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School. She married the love of her life, Berneil, on November 27, 1947. She enjoyed 73 wonderful years with him. She devoted her life to her home and family as a homemaker, creating a home filled with love, faith, creativity, and many cherished memories.
A talented and creative woman, Joy enjoyed stained glass, baking, painting, sewing, and crafting. Her talents were recognized many times at the West Texas Fair & Rodeo, where she was a multiple ribbon winner for her baking and sewing. Whether she was creating something beautiful with her hands or baking something special to share, Joy found great pleasure in using her talents for those around her.
Joy was a lifelong member of Tye Baptist church, and her Christian faith was an important and guiding part of her life. She faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher for many years, sharing her love of the Lord and caring for generations of those she taught. Her faith was reflected not only in her service to the church, but also in the way she lived her life and loved her family.
Joy is survived by her daughter, Debbie Page and husband James; her grandchildren, Lana Reynolds and husband Steven, Mamie Clark and husband Pete, Brad Teaff, Jessie Page, Stacy Darby, and Jordan Page; and her great-grandchildren, Cambria Reynolds, Teddy Reynolds, Wyatt Kirkus, William Clark, Carson Scherkenbach and wife Ashlee, Lexi Teaff, Payton Teaff, Braden Teaff, Kooper Darby, and Kaylynn Darby. As well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Amy Wilson; her beloved husband, Berneil Teaff; her son, Larry Teaff; and her four brothers, J.C., Earl, Horace, and Delmon.
Joy will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her strong and enduring faith, her creativity, and the many ways she shared her gifts with others. The things she made with her hands, the lessons she shared through her faith, and the love she gave so freely to her family will remain treasured reminders of a life well lived and deeply loved.
A Visitation will be held for Joy at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, TX 79606, US, on August 18, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Tye Baptist Church, 207 Morgan St, Tye, TX 79563, US, on August 19, 2026, at 10:00 am. A Committal Service will follow at Rose Hill cemetery, 38 Humphreys Village, Merkel, TX 79536, US,.
Services will be officiated by Bro. Mark Scott and Ryan Holmes. Pallbearers will be Jordan Page, Kooper Darby, Paul Wilson, William R. Davis, Brad Teaff, and Carson Scherkenbach.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Tye Baptist Church, designated for the “Miss Lula Fund.”
