Julie was a retired Captain in the USAF. She was also the section Commander for the Security Police Department Dyess AFB Abilene TX, Section Commander for the 27th Communication Squadron Anderson AFB Guam, Municipal Judge and Election Judge for Jones County and Hawley TX, and a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion.
Julie played the flute for the Abilene Community Band and was a member since 1993, taught at Abilene Community College Business School, was a board member at Our Savior Lutheran Church since 1992, as well as a Sunday School Bell & Choir Member. She was also a supporter of the Special Olympics, Paramount Theater, and the West Texas Fair & Rodeo.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dale Ralph Lanphere; her parents, Merle Galen and Jean Ester Rud; and a brother, Micheal Galen Rud.
Survivors include her son, Todd Dale Lanphere and wife, Lisa Marie; grandchildren, Christopher Lorillard and wife, Laura, Meaghan Lambeck, Mason Lambeck, Matthew Lambeck, Ashley Ann Lanphere, and Juliann Lanphere; her son, Timothy Micheal Lanphere and wife, Amber Lynn; grand-daughter, Paisley Lynn Lanphere; and great-grand-daughter, Lexie Lorillard; her sister, Linda Klingel and husband Roy; her brother, Richard Rud and wife, Colleen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Julie fought 30 plus years with cancer, Mom 4 Cancer 1. She touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., today, Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 4933 South 7th Street, Abilene, TX with Rev. LaVerne Janssen officiating directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene. Services and interment will be held in Mondovi, WI.
Flowers and plants are welcome. Donations can be made in her honor to Lutherans for Life, Pregnancy Resources Center, Susan G. Koman Foundation, or Our Savior Lutheran Church in Abilene.
