He leaves behind to cherish and honor his memory his wife of 14 years, Joyce Ann Smith of Abilene, TX; sons David Smith of College Station, TX, and Joel (Lisa) Smith of Abilene, TX; four grandchildren, Ashleigh Alleqrucci of Abilene, TX, Alyssa (David) Riffle of Abilene, TX, Justin Smith of Abilene, TX, and Chad (Vanessa) Smith of Abilene, TX; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters.
He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy R. Smith; sons Danny Smith and Robert Allen Smith; four brothers; and two sisters.
Leo served 22½ years in the United States Army and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was proud to serve his country and often said he would gladly do it all over again. He traveled and lived in Thailand and Germany and retired from military service in 1974. He later opened his own shop on Butternut Street with his son Joel and also opened an antique mall in Tye, TX, before retiring. He was one in a million and will be greatly missed.
