Linda was born on March 3, 1950 in Grundy, Virginia to the late Alvin Ray Swinney and Edith Mae (Anderson) Swinney Westbrook. The youngest of 13 children, she grew up in Grundy, Virginia. When she was 12 years old, the family relocated to Michigan where she graduated from Brighton High School. She then graduated from Hardin Simmons University with a Bachelor of Science, with a minor in Finance. She completed nursing school in 1987.
She became the mother of two daughters, Catina and Bobbie Jo. In the early 1980’s, she moved to Texas, and soon after began what would become a long and successful career with Skinny’s Convenience Stores, rising through the ranks and eventually retiring as the Director of Operations. Her love of people and natural leadership abilities allowed her to thrive in her profession.
She married Fernando Velez Ibarra, Sr. in 2002 in Baird. They spent many years together creating special memories. Linda loved her family, and though she was the youngest of her siblings, she was fiercely protective of them as if she was the oldest. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: cooking and making memories with her family. Though she suffered many challenges throughout life, her faith helped sustain her. She and Fernando attended College View Baptist Church for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; her mother and father-in-law Manuel and Esperanza Ibarra; and several other special in-laws.
She is survived by her devoted husband Fernando Ibarra; daughters Catina Stone (Anthony) and Bobbie Jo Dababneh (Johnny); her sons Richard Ibarra (Olga) and Fernando Ibarra, Jr. (Joanne); her grandchildren Jordan Stone, Dominic Dababneh, Elia Ibarra, Andry Ibarra and Emily Ibarra; her brothers Bill Swinney (Pat) and Chuck Swinney (Yolanda); her brothers and sisters-in-law Dora Terrazas, Hope Flores, Mike Ibarra, Manuel Ibarra (Marilyn) and Yolanda Vega (Mike); numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and special friends.
