Linda Black Pugh, 63, of Hawley passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories located at 542 Hickory Street in Abilene Texas. Visitation will be Sunday April 8th from 6:00 pm -8:00 pm. Linda was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie Charles Pugh , her parents Forest and Verna Black, her two brothers, Jimmy and Doyle Black, her three sisters, Janis Dalrymple, Joan Kirk and Doris VanCleave. She is survived by and continues to live on through her two daughters and their families: Lindsey Luman, Jeff Luman and granddaughter Elizabeth of Lubbock and Lauren Hilliard, Cody Hilliard and grandson Connor of Hawley as well her two sisters Lois Deen and Debra Bagley. As we try to express what Linda meant to everyone who knew her, our words fail us. We could tell you that Linda grew up on a small family farm in Merkel, Texas as the youngest of 9 children, or that she worked 30 years for the office of Special Education Programs at Abilene ISD, making friends she kept throughout her life. We could tell you of her love for antiquing or of the adventures she undertook on trips with her family, but none of that captures what Linda was most concerned about you knowing about her. If you know only one thing about Linda Black Pugh, know that more than anything in her life she cherished her two daughters and her grandchildren.

I met Linda on the first day of first grade. We graduated from San Marcos High School on the same Day. We were best friends every day in between. Even though I would never have said so then, I loved her. Loved her open heart. She was the smartest. The funniest. The warmest. She made everyone get along. I love her.

I am so sorry for your loss. I went to school with Linda and have such fond memories of her. I remember riding the bus to her house for her birthdays .
She was a sweet friend. Prayers to her family.
