She spent her childhood in Kentucky and Tennessee. After her father passed away, she helped her mom raise her four youngest siblings. She married the love of her life, Robert Bickel. After his military career ended, they moved to Washington State, where his family lived. There she worked as a physical therapist with her friend Patty Jean before moving to Abilene, Texas. She loved playing marbles, watching football games, old TV shows, game shows, and sitting on her back porch.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob Bickle; brothers, Raymond Hood, Dennis Hood, David Hood, Roger Hood, Lonnie Hood, Danny Hood, and Kenny Hood; and sister-in-law, Delores Hood.
She is survived by her sister, Sharon Ezell; brother-in-law Don Ezell; brother Rick Hood; sister-in-law Becky Hood; sister-in-law Joan Hood; and sister-in-law Sandra Hood.
A committal service will take place on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 2:45 pm at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, 7457 W Lake Rd, Abilene, TX 79601.
