Margie Valree Pruitt

A graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2012, in Rose Hill Cemetery, Merkel, Texas, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Margie was born November 4, 1922 to John Herbert West and Flora Gertrude West in Trent, Texas. She was raised and attended school in Trent. Margie married Aulton Lee Pruitt on November 1, 1941 in Abilene, Texas. She worked as a hairstylist for Scoggin’s Beauty Salon for eight years until the birth of her daughter, Pam. Margie was a homemaker and a member of the Women’s Auxiliary. She had a passion and love, not only for her family, but for cooking and gardening. Margie definitely had a green thumb.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aulton Lee Pruitt on November 25, 2007; sister, Herbert Dene Starkey Tittle; a brother, Booth West; and a niece, Karen Starkey.

Survivors include her daughter, Pamla Pruitt of Abilene; a granddaughter, Courtney Farr of Abilene; two great-grandchildren, Jayden Sloan and J’Lee Sloan; and several nieces and nephews.
